We all know now that it can change in an instant.
Everything.
And here we are wondering what to do next.
I have some questions for you.
How are you feeling?
Are you doing what you need to be doing in your life?
Are you doing what you want to be doing?
Are you taking care of yourself?
Are you planning to be happy/content/safe?
Because, in an instant, everything can change. We have now seen this for ourselves with the pandemic. *
So, today, in addition to giving you those questions to help you attain your goals, I'm writing to remind you to live your best life right now.
Tell the people you love, that you love them. Hug your family and friends when you can.
Thank those people you appreciate at the restaurant that managed to stay open or the barista who worked all through the pandemic.
Do all the things that you keep putting off because you "don't have time." Make time. This is it. This is your life, right now, this minute.
Prioritize extra sleep and healthy foods so that you will feel better NOW.
Start figuring out a way to go on that vacation.
Begin reading that book, start that project, set new goals.
And perhaps, most importantly....
Figure out who you are and what you want going forward in this strange new world.
We had a ton of time and although it's ok if you didn't do anything but survive during the shutdowns, it's probably time to get it together. Think about all the things you say you want to do. Check in with yourself.
Maybe you don't want the same things as you did in the "beforetimes."
Maybe stuff has become a should that doesn't matter anymore. (Read that again. Think about it.)
If you want to go forward, it's time to figure out what has stopped you up until now. Figure out a way to do it. There are coaches, books and support groups online. If you need help to achieve your goals, find it.
If it something you are dreading, but you still have to do it, stop ruining the present by putting it off. Just get it done for goodness sake!)
Because you know what?
In order to enjoy right now and the future, you have to
focus on making right now the best that it can be.
If you take care of right now, and enjoy right now, there will be no regrets.
There will be happiness and satisfaction that you did everything you could to enjoy your life. Nothing to regret there.
"Try to live your life in a way that you will not regret years of useless virtue
and inertia and timidity." -Maya Angelou

Cynthia, thanks so much for reading and commenting--truly appreciate it. I think we all can use that pause to check in with ourselves throughout the day!
Fantastic article. I need to check in with myself more.
